In our newsletters, we’ll share exciting updates, helpful resources, and fun language tips that will enhance your learning journey. Let’s get started! |
Language Tip: Bring the Language Home! Incorporating a new language at home can be an enjoyable, engaging activity for the whole family. Try labeling common household items, like "door," "table," or "chair," with their names in the language you’re learning. You can also invite your kids to help with the labels—it’s a fun way for everyone to get involved! You could turn it into a simple game. Ask your kids to find the item that matches a word in the new language. It’s a gentle, natural way to add a bit of language practice to your daily routine without pressure! |
Lingo to Know: Speak Like a Native Every month, we’ll bring you a fun and useful phrase to add to your language toolkit. |
French Lingo: "Ça caille" This casual French expression means "It's freezing!" or "It's really cold!" If you’re outside on a chilly day, you can describe the weather with this phrase:
Fun Fact: The word "caille" comes from the French word for quail, a type of bird. The phrase "ça caille" humorously suggests that it's so cold outside, even the small quail might freeze! It’s a playful way to emphasize just how cold it is. |
Spanish Lingo: "Febrero Loco y Marzo Otro Poco" This popular Spanish saying reflects the unpredictable nature of winter weather. It suggests that while February can be just as wild as January, March might still carry some of that unpredictable chill, but perhaps not as strongly. You can use this phrase to comment on unpredictable winter weather, as shown in these examples:
Fun Fact: In some parts of Latin America, "febrero loco" doesn’t just mean wild weather—it can also reference amazing sales! So, if someone says, "¡Vamos al febrero loco!", they’re inviting you to shop for great deals! |
